We are happy to have friends and family at the cabin, but please understand this is not an AirBnb. Do your best to go through this checklist before you leave. If something is broken during your stay (or maybe it was broken when you got there), that is totally fine. Just let Louise or Richard know so we can make plans to fix.
Sheets and Towels
wash and dry sheets and towels
make beds with fresh sheets
fold towels and put in linen closet
if you're running short on time for dryer cycle to complete, leave a note saying "clean" on top the dryer
Dishwasher
run the dishwasher (leave soap holder open b/c sometimes it doesn't open automatically)
put away clean dishes
if you're running short on time for dishwasher cycle to complete, leave a note saying "clean" on top the dishwasher
NOTE: if you run the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time it might overload the septic system with too much water. It's best to run them separately if time allows. See Septic Pump Alarm for more details.
Vacuum Floors
not strictly necessary for every stay, but if you see the floor is a mess and have time, we would appreciate a quick vacuum
Fridge
clear out any perishables
OK to leave condiments, use your judgement
Main Floor Toilet
the flapper on the main floor toilet sometimes gets caught and will keep the toilet running. Check to make sure it's not running. If it is, lift up the tank and flip the chain off the flapper.
Garbage and Recycling
it would be a great help if you can take your garbage and recycling to the Tofte Dump on your way home. It should be ~$10 and is right by the highway
if the dump is closed or you're running short of time, put it in the garage (garage door code is same as front door)
food scraps can be thrown out the back of the garage
Doors, Windows, Lights
all doors locked (including garage if open, garage door code is same as front door)
all windows closed with shades pulled down
all lights off (except kitchen sink light)
exit through the front door and lock
enter door code + Yale logo to lock (might need to pull slightly on door because it's misaligned)
